Check-ins and Badges

If you use the check-in feature, the app stores a record of your visited sites and earned badges in our database. This data is associated with an anonymous user identifier generated on your device, not your name or email.

Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not require account creation or login
• We do not track your location history or background location
• We do not serve advertisements
• We do not sell your data to any third party

Third-Party Services

Happened Here uses the following third-party services to provide content:

• National Park Service (NPS) ArcGIS API — provides historical site data. Subject to NPS's own privacy practices.
• Wikipedia API — provides descriptive content for historical sites. No personal data is sent to Wikipedia.
• Expo / EAS — used to deliver app updates. Subject to Expo's privacy policy.

Data Retention

Check-in and badge data is retained for as long as you use the app. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at the address below.

Children's Privacy

Happened Here is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The updated date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
